Morphological Ideation

A morphological analysis is normally used to break down the design of an existing product into its components. Not the whole, but its parts are analyzed. We can use this method not only to analyze, but also to generate ideas. This works for many different products.

What is a Morphological Matrix?

Below is a template for generating ideas by thinking about features of a design, but also about how to potentially combine these. The template has space for 25 feature ideas (and more than 3,000 possible combinations). The designer here has combined these features into three potential combinations that she is considering for her final product.
