This Design unit is not asking you to invent completely new products but is focused on developing high-quality products that are innovative in subtle ways.
Good consumer products improve on existing designs while having their own distinct features and style.

Focus exploration:
Ritual & Play
In this unit, you are asked to design or redesign a common everyday consumer product for a specific client and target audience. This target audience is based on your own experience and can be similar to your peer group. The product should be based in the theme of 'lighting'.
Success criteria:
Your product will be successful if;
Your product is used in its intended context upon completion.
Initial inquiry:
What are the needs of your chosen target market?
What can we define as a lighting product?
What techniques can be used to create high-quality products at UNIS?

A: Inquiry & Analysis
Aiii: Existing products analysis
Analyze a range of existing products that inspire a solution to the problem.
B: Design Development:
Bi: Specification
Develop design specifications, which clearly state the success criteria for the design of a solution.
Bii: Ideation
Develop a range of feasible design ideas that can be correctly interpreted by others
Biii: Design Choice
Present the chosen design and justify its selection
Biv: Final Design
Develop accurate and detailed planning drawings/diagrams and outline the requirements for the creation of the chosen solution.
C: Creating:
Ci: Planning
Construct a logical plan that describes the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create the solution
Cii: Skills
Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution
Ciii: Process
Follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended
Civ: Changes
Fully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution
Product presentation
Present the solution as a whole
