Design Thinking & Skill Building

What a great combo!

At UNIS, we follow a blended design approach that incorporates aspects of both digital and product design projects. Our main goal is to equip our learners with a design thinking mindset while teaching them a robust set of fundamental design skills in order to increase their level of impact on real-world clients! In doing so, we hope to prepare our learners to become vibrant contributors to the 4th Industrial Revolution.

MYP Design Aims

Student - Centered Leveled Pathways (SCLP)

We have created multiple levels of design projects that cater to the individual needs of each student. Whether you are new to design or a seasoned tinkerer, we are confident we can find a challenge that will suit your abilities and expose you to new tools and techniques! Here's how it works...

Level 1

In Level 1 Design you will encounter challenges that will build your skills and conceptual understanding using the MYP Design Cycle

These projects will ease you into the Design Thinking mindset through designing products for a familiar target audience.

Skills:

Level 2

In Level 2 Design you will learn more difficult skills and gain a deeper conceptual understanding of the iterative process of Design Thinking by broadening your target audience to the wider community.

Skills:

Level 3

In Level 3 Design you will be expected to use the toolbox of skills you have acquired to develop real-world solutions for a target market outside of your comfort zone.

Support Structures

The main goal of this website is to use technology to help personalize education to you and your specific needs. Everyone has different strengths and as the illustration shows, fair is not always equal...

The important thing here is to advocate for yourself and let your teacher know if you have any questions.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Nearly 70% of our students are non-native English speakers. Our goal is for all of our templates to be written so that they are as easy to follow as LEGO or IKEA instructions. Please help us by using Google Translate and let us know if there are any parts of the website where vocabulary could be improved.

Learning Support

We allow as much extra time as possible and have a variety of tools to help you get through the tasks assigned.
